High-speed connectivity in India

19 Jul 2019

India’s capital region experiences a huge flow of passenger cars commuting every day. The implementation of new rail rapid transit systems is a promise to reduce travel delays and congestion. Our Indian Urban experts are proud to be part of this solution.

The dependence of commuters on road-based transportation is a real issue in India’s capital region. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), with the support of Tractebel, is implementing new Regional Rapid Transit Systems (RRTS) connecting Delhi to Meerut, Panipat and Alwar.

RRTS is the next frontier in the area of connectivity in India. Its design speed is 180 kmh serving 16 of the RRTS stations. The Delhi-Meerut Corridor is the first to be implemented. In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Meerut Metro’s North-South Corridor will run on the RRTS track for a distance of 15 km with six additional stations. The system will be equipped with a CATC (Continuous Automatic Train Control) signalling system and the total Corridor consists of 67% elevated, 32% underground, and 1% level alignment. The stretch is planned to be operational by 2023.

Tractebel and Seoul Metro (Korean Partner) will provide the following services: Review and update of the Operations and Maintenance requirements, operations strategy, operations and maintenance plans, procedures and processes, timetables, develop training strategy and plans, Risk Management Plan.
