The plans for the park draw their inspiration from the views expressed by adults, young people and children in a consultation process. Designed by Tractebel in collaboration with ADR Architects/Georges Descombes, Carve and MSA, this new green space will comprise a wide promenade running along the canal, accompanied by fun lighting which will guide those walking through into various recreational areas.
The mission of Tractebel consists of project management, design of the park (masterplan, pre-design, detailed design, tender documents and the follow-up of the execution phase) and preliminary studies of the soil pollution.
The park, of around 28,000 m², will provide a place to relax and engage in sport, games and urban leisure pursuits in a densely populated part of the city with a shortage of green areas and recreational spaces. Parks, woodland and gardens represent 18% of the total surface area of the Brussels-Capital Region, making it one of the greenest capital cities in the world, with 28m² green space per inhabitant.
