Executive master’s in Resilient and Carbon-Neutral Cities: Second session slated for January 2024

27 mrt 2023

Following the success of theTractebel-ENGIE-Université Libre de Bruxelles' executive master’s program, a new and improved second session will begin in January 2024. This innovative program, the first of its kind worldwide, was born of the urgent need for more professionals working to make our urban areas greener and more resilient.

In just one year, the first-of-its-kind executive master’s in Resilient and Carbon-Neutral Cities has proven its relevance, as it equipped professionals with the skills needed to address the ever-more pressing challenges faced by European cities. Meeting the growing need for qualified professionals is the main objective of the partnership between Tractebel, ENGIE and the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), pioneers of this initiative.

A dedicated program, the first-of-its-kind executive master’s in Resilient and Carbon-Neutral Cities

The program focuses on such crucial topics as developing net-zero solutions and increasing the resilience of cities – topics that will only gain more relevance in the foreseeable future, as we are only beginning to feel the impacts of climate change.

Congratulations to the first-ever graduates of our Resilient and Carbon-Neutral Cities master’s program!

Why now?

Because cities – responsible for 70% of greenhouse gases (according to the United Nations) - are one of the biggest challenges of the future. 70% of the world’s population will live in cities by 2050, the same year the European Union is targeting net-zero emissions. To achieve this ambitious sustainability goal, there is an urgent need for trained professionals on a global scale.

Congratulations to the Class of ‘23

The first-ever graduates of the Tractebel-ENGIE-Université Libre de Bruxelles' executive master’s program in Resilient and Carbon-Neutral Cities presented their theses on March 16 at ULB in Brussels, Belgium. Participants in the 2022/23 session were a diverse group of five nationalities and 57% women.

Register now for the new and improved January 2024 session!

The 2024 session is shaping up to be even better. Next year, we will feature a wider variety of topics while maintaining the same high standard of expert speakers and facilitators. Work-life balance will be improved by reducing the frequency of classes, doubling the thesis preparation period and extending the duration of the program from six months to one year.
