The 98 MW, natural gas-powered Nexif Ratch Energy Rayong power plant has entered into commercial operation in Rayong, on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand. Tractebel acted as owner’s engineer.
April 30, 2022 marked the successful conclusion of a major new energy project for Thailand, reaching its commercial operation deadline as planned. As owner’s engineer of the project, Tractebel’s energy experts supported the engineering design review and project management.
The 98 MW Nexif Ratch Energy Rayong (NRER) combined-cycle power plant project includes the world’s first 62 MW SGT-800 gas turbine and Thailand’s first 36 MW SST-600 steam turbine. The project is considered an important step in the move towards cleaner energy in Thailand, as natural gas is more efficient and produces significantly less emissions than petroleum or coal. The NRER power plant is among the most energy-efficient of its kind.

Nexif Ratch Energy Rayong Company Limited has entered into a 25-year Small Power Producer agreement to supply 90 MW of electricity to the Electricity Generation Authority of Thailand. The project is located in the SPP Industrial Park, Rayong, Thailand.
