The introduction of the environmental management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001 means Lahmeyer International - a company of Tractebel - will be promoting environmentally-friendly and culture-friendly sustainable development. The company will also continuously improve its performance in this area in the future. The growth of environmental awareness and public interest have an impact on business activities. The demand for environmentally-friendly services and socially responsible companies has gained in importance for Lahmeyer’s clients as well.

Successful certification audits by the TÜV technical inspectorate

The normative preconditions for certification (in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001) of the Bad Vilbel office were established when Lahmeyer International successfully completed a pre-audit in early September in the run-up to certification. On 27 and 28 September 2018 the external auditors from TÜV Hessen paid another visit to the central office in Bad Vilbel. In the initial certification procedure, Volker Rühl, Environmental Manager at Lahmeyer International, presented all the required documents. Lahmeyer project managers from the Energy Division presented two projects involving special environmental aspects to the auditors.

Guidelines for environmental policy

Lahmeyer International follows the guidelines for environmental policy of the Tractebel Group. These include the following statements: Our aim is to promote environmentally-friendly and culturally-friendly sustainable development and to continuously improve our performance in these areas.”

To realise these goals in practice, the management at Tractebel have concentrated the company’s environmental policy on four commitments:

  1. Looking ahead to prevent or at least reduce harmful effects on nature and people which are a consequence of project work and development undertaken for our clients worldwide.

  2. Integration of the environment in project life cycles so that our clients can profit from environmentally-friendly, innovative solutions which are tailored to their specific requirements.

  3. Promotion of awareness among our staff and shareholders of environmental challenges and the commitments associated with our environmental policy.

  4. Compliance with the guidelines of ENGIE with respect to environmental responsibility, employment and environmental law in all areas where we carry out our activities.

Tractebel communicates these commitments to all staff and encourages everyone to act on them accordingly. The management supports the current environmental guidelines by ensuring that the resources required for the proper implementation of the guidelines are made available.
