In order to improve access to electricity in Guinea, the Souapiti hydroelectric scheme will complement the Kaleta-Souapiti hydroelectric complex. It will double Guinea's energy capacity by producing an average annual energy of 1,900 GWh/year.
Tractebel has been in charge of the control and supervision of the Souapiti hydropower project for the Administration et Contrôle des Grands Projets since the beginning of the works in April 2016. Tractebel has also been involved in assisting with the start-up of the works and the completion of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and the Resettlement Action Plan, including the completion of an exhaustive census.

The engineering services are decomposed into three missions:
Mission 1: Assistance to the commencement of the works elaboration of the EPC contract and assistance to the negociating of EPC contract
Mission 2: Assistance to the project owner in the implementation of environmental and social plans
Mission 3: Control and supervision of the works project management and studies coordination, technical assistance, training of Client's staff, assistance to the Project Management for the Environment and Social Plans
Additionnal mission : Assistance in the Concession contract, Operation-Maintenance contract and PPA negotiations
