The building consists of 3 structures which intersect to form the complete architectural complex:

 - The reinforced concrete base, housing an area accessible to the public (entrance hall for groups, auditorium), storage and archiving areas as well as a car park and the staff cloakroom,

- The Cloud, a metal framework supported by monumental reinforced concrete piles and poles, which houses the exhibition rooms,

- The Crystal, a glass roof on a tubular metal frame 30m in height and span, supported by both the Cloud and the Socle, which houses the main entrance hall, the shop and the accesses to the Parvis and the Garden.

The project also included several works of the garden and the forecourt, including inclined architectural walls, retaining walls, concrete stairs, exterior paving at the entrance, street furniture and various landscaping.
