The 6th International Exhibition and Conference is taking place from 25th to 27th May in Dushanbe. Caspian and Central Asian countries offer rated output hydropower of more than 75 GW, major part of which is still out of use.

The 6th International Exhibition and Conference is taking place from 25th to 27th May in Dushanbe. Caspian and Central Asian countries offer rated output hydropower of more than 75 GW, major part of which is still out of use. Thus, the share of unutilized hydropower potential in Tajikistan is about 85 %, in Kyrgyzstan is even more at about 90 %. All the while, regional functioning HPPs refer to the Soviet time era and have a need for modernization, what is very important for Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan Kazakhstan. The program of the Congress is devoted to the questions of future hydropower development up to 2030 in the Region – the construction of new HPPs and modernization of the existing facilities. The Summit brings together authorities, licensors, developers, producers and suppliers of equipment, operators, investors and international technological and engineering companies from about 20 countries worldwide.

Over the course of the Event, keynote information is to be obtained regarding HPP construction and modernization projects in Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan as well as insight into financing and investment opportunities in hydropower sector in the Region.

The Tractebel BD Managers Alban Girard and Roman Vorobyev visited the highest designed dam in the world with 335 m at Rogun HPP site, which is being constructed to be finalised in 2030, as well as the biggest in Tajikistan HPP Nurek with 3 GW capacity being now rehabilitated and uprated to 3,3 GW. Tractebel executed the Technical Economical Assessment Study for Rogun HPP in 2011 – 2014 and has been working as Employer’s Engineer for the Client Barqi Tojik since 2016. Roman Vorobyev is moderating the Key Round Table Session of the Congress “Construction of Rogun HPP – a key driver of hydropower development in Tajikistan, whereas Alban Girard participates in the discussions.
