The Fourth United Nation Environment Assembly took place from 11 to 15 March 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya. Tractebel participated in two high-level summits, one of them co-hosted by the Presidents of Kenya and France.

The Fourth United Nation Environment Assembly, the world’s highest-level decision-making body on the environment, took place from 11 to 15 March 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya.

On 13 March, Charles-Edouard Delpierre, Tractebel’s General Manager Business Line Urban, was one of the speakers at the UN Cities Summit session on Integrated Planning and Policies for Circular Transitions. This session explored integrated approaches to infrastructure planning as well as cross-sectoral policies that allow for cumulative efficiency gains, particularly waste and by-products of one system to be reused in another, reducing cities’ resource demands and greenhouse gas emissions, while improving health and well-being.

On 14 March, Charles-Edouard spoke on the One Planet Summit, co-hosted by H.E. Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic of France. This Summit, which gathered committed leaders, entrepreneurs, donors and international organizations, highlighted the unique role of Africa as a global partner facing both challenges and opportunities from climate disruptions and ecosystem resilience.

“I was really proud of representing Tractebel in this high-level event and to have had the opportunity to highlight the central role of urban engineering and advisory for designing better cities and territories,” said Charles-Edouard Delpierre.
