Find out moreThe Urban Team of Tractebel Belgium proudly supports the Government of the Republic of Mauritius in the optimization of their waste management system. A fascinating project in which the principles of circular economy are invoked to create an integrated system tailored to the environment of the island.
The Government of the Republic of Mauritius , supported by the French Development Agency (AFD) has initiated four years ago the development of an ambitious program for optimizing waste management in the country with focus on resources recovery and recycling. End November 2020 Tractebel and its local partner Luxconsult started the feasibility study for the development of Composting and Sorting infrastructure. The aim of this second phase consists in providing technical solutions adapted to the specific local context of Mauritius and therefore addressing the typical stakes of Small Island Developing States.
“Tractebel supports the government of the Republic of Mauritus with their transition to a more integrated waste management system in line with the environment. In addition to the direct support for the client in setting up a new recycling system according to the circular economy, this project will also contribute positively to the socio-economic system of the island.”, according to Senior Consultant Diane Lippens.
At this moment, Tractebel is analyzing together with the Client the potential material streams to be recovered, in order to realize, in the second phase, the conceptual design of the recovery facilities (composting and sorting units).
