The Alkimos wastewater treatment plant is located approximately 40 km north of Perth and the first plant in Australia with state of the art odor treatment using photo-ionisation. The plant will be developed in stages during the next 80 years, and will ultimately serve a population of 750,000 people with a total expected inflow of 160,000 m³/d. The wastewater is being transported to the plant with a 5 km long DN 2000 tunnel. After treatment, water is evacuated to ocean via a 4 km sea outfall.
