It consists of several parts:
- Development works on the left bank of the Scheldt (Left Bank)
- A tunnel under the Scheldt (Scheldt Tunnel) 1.8 km, four "tubes": one per direction for motor vehicles with 3 lanes each, one for cyclists and pedestrians and one for evacuation
- The Oosterweel junction (Oosteverweel junction) This junction connects the tunnel under the Scheldt with the canal tunnels and provides a connection to the port and the Eilandje.
- The Channel Tunnels, which connect the Oosterweel junction with the R1 ring road. They consist of 4 tubes, i.e. 2 times 2 tubes at different levels. The four "tubes" start at the American Quay and run under the Albert Canal. At the Noorderlaan the tunnels separate, the two lower tubes connecting to the ring road towards the Netherlands (A12 and E19) and the other two to the ring road towards Hasselt (E313), Eindhoven (E34) and Brussels (E19). Their length is approximately 2.5 km.
- Development work on the northern bypass (R1)
Tractebel is responsible for the design of all engineering related to traffic management and technical installations of tunnels for the main works, and supports Fabricom in the realization.
