Tractebel to lead Wind Resource Assessment for Hollandse Kust (west) Wind Farm Zone

Tractebel has been selected by the Dutch government to perform the Wind Resource Assessment (WRA) for the Hollandse Kust (West) Wind Farm Zone (HKWWFZ). The consortium combines its technical experience and scientific background to carry out the assessment which will be explained to prospective wind farm developers during a webinar.

We are proud to announce that the consortium led by Tractebel has been selected to perform the Wind Resource Assessment (WRA) for the Hollandse Kust (west) Wind Farm Zone (HKWWFZ). This assignment will be performed on behalf of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The consortium which won the competitive tender for the WRA includes the Von Karman Institute (VKI) and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven). With the expertise of the VKI, the appropriate mesoscale model will be selected, whilst the KU Leuven will challenge the current best practice approach with a new wake model, which includes blockage effect and wind farm induced gravity waves. To date, a preliminary assessment has already been performed and these results will also be included in the HKWWFZ Project and Site Description. The final results of the WRA assessment will be presented during a webinar, enabling prospective wind farm developers to minimize risk in their bid preparation for the offshore wind project. The HKWWFZ call for tender is expected for Q2 2021.
