Breaking new ground in T&D in India

12 Jul 2018

Following an intense international tender, our Indian experts have been appointed owner’s engineer for the development of three first-of-their-kind outdoor gas insulated substations in India.

Tractebel, in partnership with TEPSCO from Japan, has won a prestigious project in India against stiff international competition. For the next 46 months, our Indian experts will act as owner’s engineer for the development of three outdoor gas insulated substations (400-220-132 kV) in the state of Odisha.  First-of-their-kind in India, the outdoor gas insulated substations will feature special transmission conductors that have proven success stories in Japan in cyclone areas.

The owner’s engineering mission comprises technical specification, basic design, preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, construction supervision, commissioning and technology transfer. The project is funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the client is Odisha Power Transmission Company Limited (OPTCL).
